Community

Giving back has been a core foundation since the beginning of Bacardi. Company founder and BACARDÍ rum creator Don Facundo Bacardí Massó began this tradition in 1862 when he volunteered as the chief organizer of disaster relief in his hometown of Santiago de Cuba after a horrific earthquake.

Today, we help drive employability in the communities around our sites and offices through our Shake Your Future and Build Your Future programs. We support the growers and farmers of our natural ingredients. We encourage employees to volunteer time with local organizations and we support the many worthwhile charities in our towns working to better our communities. We step in to help with the Bacardi Disaster Relief Fund which supports those affected by a disaster.

Mercy Corps: One Year Since Maria, Puerto Rico Is Back In Business But Deep Wounds Remain
One year after deadly Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, the global organization Mercy Corps is helping the island’s small businesses, farmers and fishermen get back on their feet. With one in three workers in Puerto Rico employed by a small or medium-sized business and 80 percent of the island’s crop value wiped out by the storm, helping business owners generate income and providing tools to fishers and farmers to restore their livelihoods is crucial to the island’s continuing recovery.

Mercy Corps' efforts in Puerto Rico are made possible by the support of Bacardi, BlackRock, Google.org, The Miami Foundation and Walmart. Join us and support Mercy Corps’ work in Puerto Rico and elsewhere in the world.
