JetBlue Foundation E-Newsletter: A Glance at 2018

On November 8th, the JetBlue Foundation awarded $135,000 in grants to STEM education programs in Puerto Rico to aid long-term post-hurricane recovery in celebration of National STEM Day. The JetBlue Foundation, in its continued commitment to Puerto Rico, awarded grants to organizations that are investing in the island’s future and placing aviation and STEM top-of-mind as career choices for students. JetBlue started service 16 years ago, and is the largest carrier on the island with San Juan being one of JetBlue’s six Focus Cities.

The grant recipients included Ciencia Puerto Rico, EcoExploratorio, Inter American University of Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico Aviation Maintenance Institute.

SPARK Continues to Ignite a Passion for Science Around the World

From Europe and Asia to the Americas, MilliporeSigma employees gave back to their local communities in more ways than one during SPARK Week, October 13-21, 2018. Not only did they teach Curiosity Labs™ lessons and host site tours, but they also brought science education to a low-income village and an orphanage, impacting thousands of students by providing them with hands-on experiments to spark their curiosity in science.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital curriculum resources, digital content, and professional development for K-12 classrooms, today invited teachers and students nationwide to participate in Game Plan For The Future: An All-Star Virtual Field Trip on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. EST. During this immersive virtual experience, teachers and students will join NBA players and executives to hear how they use the STEM skills learned in school to bring the excitement of regular season games, playoffs, NBA Finals, and NBA All-Star to life for fans around the world.

Scotiabank Invests $15 Million to Help Provide Young People in the GTA a Strong Start

United Way Greater Toronto announced a $15-million investment from Scotiabank to help ensure that young people in the GTA have the opportunities and resources they need to have a bright future. The funds – the largest corporate commitment in United Way Greater Toronto's history – will be invested in a network of agencies across Peel, Toronto and York that support more than 245,000 young people and their families, each year.
