In March, Sands Bethlehem hosted a team from the Bacardi Group for two days of meetings and dinners. As part of their visit, the team built 500 hygiene kits for veterans, women and children, providing them with access to soap and other personal hygiene products. The kits were donated to the Victory House, YWCA of Bethlehem and Donegan Elementary School.

Ten years ago, senior vice president, chief procurement and sustainability officer Norbert Riezler, was appointed to manage the U.S. procurement department for Las Vegas Sands and within 18 months, was asked to head the department globally by Chairman and CEO, Sheldon Adelson. Three years later, he was asked to lead the sustainability department globally, managing the program in Macao and Singapore as well.

Bloomberg’s Inaugural Business of Equality summit took place on Tuesday by convening more than 400 influential business leaders, advocates and activists to discuss diversity and inclusion initiatives in the workforce, future of equality, and what is at stake for both the economy and society at-large. The event was held at Bloomberg’s Global Headquarters in New York City.

GRI has appointed Peter Paul van de Wijs as Chief Communications Officer. With extensive international experience in communications and sustainable development, he will bring valuable input to driving GRI's mission of empowering decisions that create social, environmental and economic benefits for everyone.

Dell and Forum for the Future, sponsored a hackathon as part of New York City’s Open Data Week. The Open Data L-train Innovation Challenge asked participants to create ideas that focused on using open data to help mitigate and manage the effects of the planned shutdown of the Canarsie Tunnel in April 2019.

“It’s exciting to see these experiences being made available to even more students,” says Victoria May, executive director of the ISP. “Too many students get to high school without the confidence to tackle STEM subjects or an awareness of the opportunities waiting for them in STEM fields. That’s why it’s important to make inroads with students when it matters most—in elementary and middle school.”

Rouge River Farms joins a fast-growing network of certified growers that have made a commitment to improve labor conditions, food safety and pest management through Equitable Food Initiative’s workforce development program.

The company’s farming and packing operations in Clewiston, Florida, became EFI's first certified grower shipper on the East Coast after meeting more than 300 rigorous indicators, based on independent assessment by third-party certifier SCS Global Services.
