Verizon (NYSE:VZ) 2017 Corporate Responsibility Report Reveals Ambitious New Goals to Cut Carbon Intensity in Half From 2016 Levels and Invest up to $400 Million in Education

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) CEO, Lowell McAdam, yesterday announced new sustainability and education and goals during the annual shareholder’s meeting as outlined in the company’s 2017 Corporate Responsibility Report. After undergoing a rigorous evaluation of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Verizon is continuing efforts to support a target under United Nations Sustainability Goal #8 of improving sustainable consumption and production and Goal #4 of ensuring quality education for all.

AEG welcomed more than 30 students from Pasadena’s John Muir High School to its global headquarters in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 25 for the second Arroyo Seco Weekend Job Shadow Day. As part of AEG’s community outreach initiative with Pasadena Unified School District in conjunction with Arroyo Seco Weekend in Pasadena, Calif. in June, students were exposed to the company’s many facets of the sports and entertainment industry and received advice on future career paths.

Achieving universal health coverage is target 3.8 of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3—to “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.” More than this, providing universal health coverage, which includes access to high quality, affordable health services and essential medicines, is necessary to achieve all 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals.
