Join SAP: Corporate Champions for Education Head to Colombia in 2019

SAP is seeking like-minded companies of all sizes to collaborate and address the pervasive skills gap around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Working with PYXERA Global, SAP is leveraging the extensive experience and capability of their employees to address the issue, as well as making opportunities available to the employees of other companies through the Corporate Champions for Education. The program places sponsoring companies' employees in short-term, skills-based service assignments with non-profit organizations to improve educational outcomes and open opportunities for people in under-served communities.

Special Ducks Help Comfort Children Who Are Battling Cancer

The invention, called “My Special Aflac Duck,” was named one of Time Magazine’s best inventions of 2018, and it’s easy to see why, as kids rapidly grow attached to them. “We consider the duck a social robot,” inventor Aaron J. Horowitz said. “He is a constant companion for kids that can really share in the experience that they are having, and can give them a better tool to communicate how they feel.” The duck responds to the touch of a child’s hands, and can even indicate that it’s being tickled, quacking rapidly when it’s tickled under its wings.

Bacardi and Mercy Corps Work Together to Aid Hurricane Recovery in Puerto Rico

More than a year after Hurricanes Maria and Irma hit the Caribbean, recovery efforts continue. As home to Casa BACARDÍ Visitor Center and the world’s largest premium rum distillery in the world, the recovery of Puerto Rico remains a priority for Bacardi. In 2018, the company provided a USD $1 million grant to Mercy Corps, a global humanitarian organization, to drive longer term rebuilding and recovery, providing support to small business owners and tourism recovery in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and St. Martin.

Inspiring others to show they care through acts of kindness speaks to the essence of the Hallmark brand. Hallmark’s Care Enough campaign highlighted the selfless acts of dozens of individuals to inspire others to perform acts of caring. Karolyn Roby an elementary school teacher from Omaha, Nebraska, turns students into Secret Kindness Agents. Modeled after the book of the same name by Ferial Pearson, Roby’s students learn how compassion plays a big part in someone’s life. Each student has an “agent name” and devises acts of kindness.

For the Eleventh Year in a Row, Subaru “Shares the Love” in a Big Way with the ASPCA

For the eleventh consecutive year, the ASPCA was one of four national charities to participate in the Subaru Share the Love® Event, which began on November 15, 2018, and ended on January 2, 2019.

Subaru set no limit on the total donation to all charities for the third year in a row, resulting in a total donation of nearly $27.5 million from Subaru and its retailers!
