For many of us, making connections or finding information online is second nature. But for others, navigating the internet is a small triumph that can lead to life-changing independence. It’s the spark that can ignite a new passion and open doors to future career paths.
The keys that unlock these life-changing moments? Digital literacy and access to technology — two areas of strategic investment at Comcast NBCUniversal that empower people and create opportunities for those who need it most.
As a global media, technology, and broadband leader, Comcast NBCUniversal understands the power of technology to improve lives. We are committed to closing what we see as the opportunity divide — the gap between people who have the knowledge, resources, and support to take part in the modern economy and those who are at risk of being left behind. One of our most critical priorities as a company is helping more people fully participate in the innovation economy.
The Spark Program connects schools in the Chicago community with corporate partners to immerse middle schoolers in workplace mentorships based on skills and interests.
“These mentorships go beyond educational aspects. Spark Mentors often have a big influence on the social and emotional development of these adolescents,” said Principal of Frazier International Magnet School, Charlette Broxton, “we are very lucky to partner with corporations, such as Tyson Foods, through the Spark Program.”
Tyson Foods has been a partner with the Spark Program since 2015, and with Chicago Public Schools closing out the year, it only made sense to have our Spark students join us for this summer celebration.

Over the past three years, NPower requests for cyber security talent have been mounting. It is clear this is not by coincidence and it is crucial we address the need.
In 2014, we partnered with Symantec in the launch of their Symantec Cyber Career Connection (Symantec C3) program. The Symantec C3 program targets the under-employment of young adults (ages 18 to 29), specifically women and minorities, as well as veterans.
Symantec has been an incredible partner to NPower, sharing our vision that students need a mix of skills to be successful in the professional world, and that there is a huge opportunity to open the doors for an underutilized talent market while strengthening the future of the industry.

At Nestlé, we believe that military values like a sense of purpose and mission, collaboration, and agility, can cross over into a civilian work experience. And what’s more, we know that veterans and transitioning military members make Nestlé better. The experience and skills veterans bring to the table is a natural fit for us, and we believe our purpose-driven company culture is a natural fit for them.
