11 GM Sites Achieve Conservation Certification

As General Motors continues scaling its efforts to restore, protect and promote biodiversity, 11 more sites have earned Conservation Certification from the Wildlife Habitat Council. The company is using its land, resources and partnerships to help address pressing global biodiversity issues.

Sodexo and The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center Sign Extension Through 2027

Sodexo, the leader in Quality of Life services, has signed a 10-year extension to continue as the exclusive food service provider and caterer at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach, VA. As part of the contract renewal, Sodexo is adding new dining options featuring sustainable seafood and local, seasonal ingredients as well as renovating the popular Osprey Café.

First Nation Elders Visit De Beers Mine to Taste the Fish

The event is one of the ways the company seeks to gain traditional knowledge as part of the mine’s environmental monitoring programme. A dozen lake trout were caught from Kirk Lake by elders from Behchoko and Lutsel K’e, who were accompanied by a member of the mine’s environment team. Kirk Lake is about 20km downstream from the mine site.

Aramark Reports Progress on Sustainable Seafood Sourcing Goals

As a responsible participant in the world’s seafood supply chain, Aramark (NYSE: ARMK), a global provider of dining solutions to businesses, schools, universities, hospitals and stadiums, is making significant progress toward its 2018 commitment to purchase 100% of its U.S. contracted seafood from sources that meet Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program recommendations. Today, 90% of the company’s frozen finfish and 100% of canned tuna purchases meet the Seafood Watch recommendations and by the end of 2018, the company expects to have transitioned all salmon and shrimp products to Seafood Watch “Best Choice” and “Good Alternative” categories.
