Cargill to Modernize Harrisonburg, Va., Hatchery, Improving Turkey Health, Biosecurity and Worker Safety

Modernization work totaling $7 million has commenced at Cargill Protein’s Harrisonburg, Va., turkey hatchery, with a focus on improving turkey health, biosecurity and worker safety. Construction work is being performed by Nielsen Builders, Inc., of Harrisonburg, with installation of new cutting edge equipment technology expected to take 24 months.

Driven to run to the sound of the guns, as one of his generals said, and responding to urgent situations distinguished his 24 years in the Army, including 39 months in combat operations. That drive led McGugan, a colonel, to a new career. He joined Duke Energy in January as director of emergency preparedness.

On July 29, Diageo’s Plainfield, Illinois facility celebrated its 50th anniversary with a festival for its employees and families and a ceremony attended by several government officials. Representative Randy Hultgren, representing the 14th District of Illinois, attended the 50th anniversary celebration and presented to the facility a flag that was flown over the United States Capitol in honor of Diageo Plainfield’s 50th anniversary, and will now be raised at the Plainfield Facility.
