American Express and Pharrell Williams Partner to Back Arts and Music Education in Schools

Today, American Express and Pharrell Williams announced an expanded partnership and joint commitment to raise awareness and support to bring more arts education to schools nationwide. As part of the collaboration, American Express Platinum and Pharrell will host a fundraising event, called the Yellow Ball, with an all-star lineup of collaborators on September 10, at the Brooklyn Museum to benefit Young Audiences Arts for Learning. American Express will also gift $1 Million to Young Audiences, the nation's largest arts-in-education network whose work strives to inspire young people and expand their learning through the arts.

Former Erb Institute PostDoc, Georgallis Receives Veni Grant of $290K

The Veni grant will provide the sum total of €250,000 towards Georgallis’ work in understanding moral markets. Communication Services for the Deaf (CSD) Learns and Wells Fargo & Company announced the launch of an online financial education series for the deaf community. The first two courses, “Dealing with Debt” and “Getting Started with Investing,” are available free of charge at CSDLearns.com to all deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind individuals in the U.S. as well as their teachers and service providers.

Walmart Supports Future Leaders Through $2 Million in Funding to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute

Today, Walmart announced $2 million in grants to organizations working to expand internship opportunities for diverse youth populations, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI). The grants build on previous Walmart funding to the two nonprofits, bringing the company’s total investment to more than $6 million over the last several years. The funding will help provide career pathways on Capitol Hill for students and young professionals through education and hands-on experience in the nation’s capital.
