Scotiabank announced its signing of both the UN LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bi, trans and intersex) Standards for Business Conduct and the UN Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), further demonstrating the Bank’s continued commitment to Diversity and Inclusion and the alignment to the Bank’s Sustainable Business strategy, launched in its 2018 Sustainable Business report. The signing of these two UN initiatives provides Scotiabank the opportunity to showcase the great work already underway in Diversity and Inclusion.

Chevron Partners with Catalyst to Advance Gender Equality

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) announced a $5 million grant to Catalyst, a global nonprofit advancing workplace gender equality, in support of expanding the organization’s Men Advocating Real Change (MARC) program, which Chevron adopted in 2016. Pepsico Funded Job Resource Center for Homeless Women Officially Opens at South Bronx Shelter

Last week, PepsiCo employees hosted a workshop for women living in Win’s (formerly Women in Need) South Bronx shelter to help them with resume writing, interviewing and other job search skills. The workshop was held in a new job resource center at the site, which was funded by the PepsiCo Foundation. The Foundation’s grant enabled Win to purchase new computers, hire job specialists and create a dedicated space for residents to focus on finding employment.

Broadening Financial Inclusion Borders in Bangladesh

According to Women’s World Banking, “Women in Bangladesh have the highest-ever rates of literacy and employment, and the country’s economy is growing. Financial inclusion now stands at more than 50 percent, nearly doubling in the past few years. But the financial inclusion gender gap is growing rapidly too, with fewer than half of women accessing or using formal financial services.”
