Major League Baseball Players to Provide $1 Million for Disaster Relief Across the Americas

The Major League Baseball Players Trust today announced it will provide $1 million in funding to support nonprofits dedicated to providing relief and recovery to the victims of the recent spate of natural disasters occurring across the Americas. In keeping with its commitment and practice of assisting others when disasters strike, the Players Trust will distribute the funds in a manner that will support short-term relief as well as long-term recovery efforts in areas suffering in the wake of the recent hurricanes and earthquakes.

Whole Planet Foundation Celebrates 12th Anniversary With Poverty Is Unnecessary Benefit & Live Auction

On October 25, Whole Foods Market will celebrate the 12th anniversary of Whole Planet Foundation, the company’s nonprofit dedicated to global poverty alleviation. Poverty is Unnecessary Day marks the launch of the foundation in 2005 to alleviate poverty around the world where the company sources products. Joining this effort are Poverty is Unnecessary Fund® partners, who collectively are committed to donating $300,000 this year.

Keep Tampa Beautiful and MetLife Foundation Host Community Tree Planting In Celebration of NeighborWoods® Month

Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, a member of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Alliance for Community Trees program, is partnering with MetLife Foundation to plant trees to beautify two large areas anchoring the front of the Florida State Fairgrounds ExpoHall (4800 US 301), which welcomes 1.2 million visitors to Tampa annually.

The planting will take place on October 7, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The community event is made possible with the support of MetLife Foundation and is part of NeighborWoods Month, a national celebration of communities and trees.

TreesCharlotte and NASCAR Green Host Community Tree Planting in Celebration of NeighborWoods® Month

Trees Charlotte, a member of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Alliance for Community Trees program, is partnering with NASCAR Green to plant 66 trees at the CharMeck Police Memorial Garden in the Nevin Community Park (6000 Statesville Road). The planting will take place on October 6, 2017 from 9:00–11:30 a.m. The community event is made possible with the support of NASCAR Green and is part of NeighborWoods Month, a national celebration of communities and trees.
