With gas prices rising, is there an electric vehicle (EV) in your future? A survey released in May by the American Automobile Association found that 20 percent of Americans said an EV would be the next car they buy. That’s up 5 percent from 2017.

Over the years, much has been done to improve the energy efficiency of refrigerators, washers and dryers and other home appliances, but California is now focusing on a bigger target — the construction of the house itself.

In most brewing facilities, nitrogen is used in several phases of the beer making process from purging tanks between uses to keeping wort, beer and residual mash from oxidizing and contaminating the next batch of beer. Nitrogen can also be used to push beer from one tank to the other, and in the final stages of the brewing process, it’s used to pressurize kegs prior to shipment and final use.

Shire's Georgia manufacturing facility near Covington has been nationally recognized as a green building for its energy and water efficiency and the healthy building practices that were incorporated into its design. The facility received three Green Globes from the Green Building Initiative, a nonprofit organization with a nationally recognized green rating assessment, guidance and certification program that seeks to promote best practices in sustainable design, construction, and building operations.
