Nike Didn’t Design Its Insane $1,200 Sunglasses for Mortals

WHEN YOU’RE AN elite runner, something as small as ill-fitting sunglasses can distract you from the task at hand—covering leg-deadening distances as fast as humanly possible. Two common pain points, even for high-end shades, are the bridge of the nose and above the ears. For the 2016 Olympics, Nike teamed up with designers at VSP Global and optics gurus at Zeiss to create a pair of sunglasses that don’t work, or look, like the sunnies you wear.

IOI Group Regains its Certification as a Sustainable Palm Oil Producer

Earlier this year, palm oil producer IOI Group had its RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification suspended after failing to meet RSPO certification standards. The RSPO announced in a statement last Friday that IOI Group will regain its certification starting today (August 8, 2016). The RSPO has found that the IOI Group is now fully compliant with RSPO standards and has plans in place to compensate stakeholders.

New AccountAbility Principles (AA1000AP) Working Group Announced

The AA1000 Nominations Committee is pleased to announce the selected members of the new AA1000AP Working Group, as approved by the AA1000 Standards Board. The revised AA1000 AccountAbility Principles (AA1000AP) will provide an updated principles-based framework for organisations to identify, prioritise and respond to its sustainability challenges. It will incorporate sustainability thinking and align with relevant parts of sustainability frameworks, leading practices, local guidelines / standards related to sustainability and regulatory requirements.

Avista Collaborates To Show That Efficiency Matters

Recently, Avista collaborated with Spokane, Wash. news station, KREM 2, and Inland Empire Toyota to educate customers about energy efficiency. The “Efficiency Matters” promotion included a contest where one lucky person could win a new, energy-efficient 2016 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. During the seven-week contest (April 18-June 5), viewers could watch any KREM 2 newscast for the energy efficiency keyword and submit it online to enter for a chance to win. Other social media options were also offered to find bonus keywords.
