More than 65 million people are outside of the mainstream financial system in the U.S, which means they are relying on high-fee alternatives and are not able to access basic financial needs like savings accounts, credit cards, or even a credit score. The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund) announced today a $1 million grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to double the size of its successful “Bank On” Fellowships, which funds a full-time Bank On coalition leader in a community for two years to focus solely on improving banking access for residents.

Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Announces $6 Million in Neighborhood Revitalization Grants
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) today announced $6 million in neighborhood revitalization grants to 50 nonprofits through the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation 2018 Priority Markets Program.

“These 50 nonprofits share our focus of strengthening communities through local neighborhood revitalization efforts in support of sustainable housing,” said Martin Sundquist, executive director of the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation. “The impact of each dollar invested through this program will be magnified by enabling nonprofits to combine funding with other community grants as the catalyst for their neighborhood revitalization work, serving as a powerful example of the positive impact that can be achieved with thoughtful public-private collaboration.”

Jimmy Carter and Wells Fargo Build ‘Hope’ for Habitat Homeowners
Hammers pounded, saws cut, cranes lifted trusses, and St. Joseph County, Indiana, residents like Anneliese Bennett literally built a new life for themselves in Mishawaka, Indiana. The future Habitat for Humanity homeowner built her house alongside a group of 1,773 Habitat for Humanity volunteers ­­— led by former President Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter. According to a new survey on corporate giving from the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Wells Fargo Foundation is the No. 2 corporate cash giver in the U.S. and the top financial institution in overall giving. The rankings, based on 2017 data, reflect more than $286.5 million in cash contributions distributed by Wells Fargo to over 14,500 nonprofits.

Supporting the Hispanic Community in ‘The New Mainstream Economy’
From consumers and homeowners to small businesses, Wells Fargo will support the fast-growing Hispanic community at every level as a key engine of the emerging U.S. economy, CEO Tim Sloan said Sunday, Sept. 9, at a national Hispanic leadership conference in San Diego. Speaking at the first annual L’Attitude conference, which highlights the expanding impact of Hispanics in the U.S., Sloan noted Wells Fargo’s continued focus on this growing market in recent years. The company, he said, has made a 10-year, $125 billion commitment to Hispanic homeownership financing and set aside $100 million for investment in minority- and women-owned small businesses.
