Timberland Joins Rotary Peacebuilding Summit to Share Insights on Collaborative Cross-Sector Partnerships
Timberland recently joined Rotary members and leaders from around the world in Toronto at the Rotary Peacebuilding Summit, part of the 109th annual Rotary International Convention. The Summit marked the culmination of a series of presidential peacebuilding conferences held since February in different locations around the world. I recently had the opportunity to join over 800 Rotary members from 30 different countries at Rotary’s Presidential Peacebuilding Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. Timberland Is Helping Rebuild Haiti’s Cotton Industry
Haiti hasn’t grown cotton in decades. Its once-abundant industry collapsed in the 1970s due to government corruption, economic mismanagement, and U.S. embargoes. But now, thanks to a project involving thousands of smallholder farmers, apparel brands like Timberland, and a blockchain network, it could be set for a comeback. Within a few years, if all goes to plan, the island will be supplying millions of pounds of organic cotton for shoes, shirts, and other clothing sold in U.S. stores.

Responsible Business & Employee Engagement

Timberland Encourages Employees to Commute Smart this Summer
Global outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland is driven by a longstanding commitment to protect and preserve the outdoors, around the world and in the communities where it operates. Putting these values into action, the Stratham, New Hampshire-based company recently joined its neighbors in the Seacoast Region’s annual CommuteSMART B2B (Business to Business) Challenge 2017. The event challenges area businesses to encourage employees to reduce their carbon footprint by using sustainable modes of transportation during the month of May. Employees at Timberland’s global headquarters embraced the opportunity, commuting by biking, carpooling, walking or telecommuting instead of driving alone in cars.
