Taproot Foundation's Campaign Initiatives

For over 15 years, Taproot Foundation has helped to define, build and advance the field of pro bono service around the globe. We have witnessed the transformative effect that pro bono service has on nonprofit organizations in helping them to increase their effectiveness and reach. We have seen the professional and personal development opportunities that pro bono service provides individual participants. And we know that human capital and professional expertise is an invaluable resource in addressing our society’s most pressing challenges. In 2017, we are piloting Taproot Campaigns. A Campaign is a statement of our commitment to deepening the impact of pro bono service. Through Campaigns, Taproot is able to: * Best leverage professional expertise to strategically address a critical social issue. * Maximize the individual development opportunities that are inherent within pro bono service * Respond to the ever-evolving needs of our nonprofit partners Our stakeholders range across for-profits, nonprofits, philanthropic organizations and individual community members, and we have successfully mobilized these diverse constituents behind a shared vision of social change success. We do not rest on our reputation or achievements. Our campaign work is indicative of our commitment to continue to lead, mobilize and engage professionals in pro bono service that drives social change.

New Year, New Ways Forward for Pro Bono
Did you make a new year’s resolution? Each year many of us resolve to change a disliked trait or accomplish a personal goal. Whether you love them or hate them, resolutions serve a purpose. They encourage us to make a conscious decision to improve our life in the coming year.

Want to Try Something New in 2018?
Driven by both necessity and opportunity right now, Taproot Foundation partners across the nonprofit, for-profit, and philanthropic sector all seem to be asking themselves one thing: “How can we be better?”

Sustainable Development Goals

Beyond Helping Hands
Who among us doesn’t remember the ubiquitous TV ads produced by the Christian Children’s Fund and Save the Children? Their images of children in dangerous states of malnutrition with the toll-free number at the bottom encouraging viewers to make a donation today to save lives were splashed across televisions throughout the United States. It was easy to think that the best way to end hunger was to give money. But what if the ads had mentioned that nearly one third of the world’s food is wasted or lost annually? How would you want to help then? What if more money wasn’t making enough of a difference?

Digging into Social Sector Tech Challenges at Taproot's U.S. Pro Bono Summit
In 2017, Taproot Foundation set out to deepen the impact of pro bono service. With the launch of our Campaigns, we’re now forging new directions in how to use pro bono service to address our most pressing global challenges, to purposefully develop our nonprofit and for-profit leaders, and to flexibly respond to the ever-changing needs of nonprofit organizations.

On April 26, as part of our annual U.S. Pro Bono Summit, we’re hosting Bridging the Technology Divide: Using Human Capital to Drive Nonprofit Technology Fluency, Adoption, and Use. Together we’ll dig into the complexity and nuances of technology challenges among social change organizations and co-design how we can better utilize technology expertise moving forward.
