“Tech entrepreneurship is close to my heart,” said Michael R. Bloomberg as we welcomed more than 150 members of the NYC technology community for the inaugural Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg speaker series.

A simple, low-cost way exists to raise the public’s awareness about climate change and its impacts. It’s a label on gas pumps; Robert Shirkey, a Canadian lawyer, came up with the idea. His goal is for people to understand the threat climate change poses.

At today’s December 2015 United Way of Monroe County community meeting, representatives of Sanofi Pasteur announced the highest company campaign total to date to a packed room of United Way volunteers, staff, partner agencies, and other supporters of the United Way.

Wells Fargo & Company selected six additional clean technology startups to join the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2), a five-year, $10 million program which is helping accelerate innovative environmental technologies.

Nearly 300 volunteers recently gathered at the Rock Ponds, Tampa Bay’s largest wetland restoration site, to take part in the largest volunteer marsh planting in the history of Tampa Bay. Volunteers planted 40,000 plugs of salt marsh cordgrass to help to restore fish and coastal wildlife habitats and improve water quality in the area. This record-setting event was supported by CITGO Petroleum Corporation, Tampa Bay Watch, the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission and Hillsborough County.

Ever hear the expression “dig your way to China?” It was pretty common when I was a girl. My friends and I thought that if we dug hard enough, we would arrive on the other side of the world in a new land with a different culture and loads of potential BFFs. Geographical accuracy aside (from the U.S. we would actually dig our way into the Indian Ocean), the concept that we are all connected was well taken.
