If anybody should know how to build a fully solar-powered house, it’s Moritz Limpinsel. The 32-year-old native of Germany has devoted his studies to solar cells, just completing a Ph.D. in chemistry and materials physics at the University of California, Irvine. Except, knowing how to and actually doing it are worlds apart.

In honor of Hunger Action MonthTM, BJ’s Charitable Foundation announces today that it will provide grants to Feeding America® and 21 member food banks totaling $600,000. Grants will support capacity building, food safety training and transportation costs for its local agencies, shelters, food pantries and other feeding programs. After helping to expand capacity in 2014 for more than 400 feeding pantries and programs that resulted in over 10 million more pounds of food to be donated, BJ’s Charitable Foundation will invest additional funding this year to further prevent a bottleneck in the supply chain for food distribution to Americans facing hunger.

That point was made during a panel discussion “Is Food the Cure?” by Vickie Kloeris, Manager, International Space Station Food System, NASA Johnson Space Center.
