Gary, the "Resourceful Recycler"

GSK is targeting a carbon neutral value chain by 2050 and has ambitious goals to reduce carbon, water and waste in the meantime. We’ve made significant progress in the last five years. In fact, we turned a corner in 2014 and by the end of 2015, 60% of GSK sites globally sent no waste to landfill. To better understand what zero waste to landfill means in the US, I spoke with Gary, GSK Shipping Coordinator at our Marietta, PA vaccine manufacturing and packaging site. Gary has worked with GSK for nearly ten years and has led the Waste Management Committee for this site to achieve this remarkable environmental milestone. Below is a summary of our recent conversation.

Today, VSP Global® announced that 1 million adults and children in need have received no-cost eye exams and glasses through Eyes of Hope, the company’s initiative to increase access to eye care and eyewear where it’s needed most. Since 1997, VSP Global businesses have invested nearly $175 million in products and services for people disadvantaged by income, natural disaster or distance to care.

Minding the Generational Digital Literacy Gap

Founded in 1999, the Comcast Foundation focuses on connecting and strengthening communities by supporting programs that expand digital literacy, promote community service, and build tomorrow’s leaders.

In 2015, the Foundation donated more than $18 million to more than 1,100 nonprofit organizations nationwide that focus their efforts on the communities Comcast serves. The Gads Hill Center, founded more than a century ago and based in a struggling Chicago neighborhood, is one of those nonprofits.
