The Conservation Fund today announced the grant recipients for the On Track with Healthy Foods grants program, sponsored by CSX. Nine community- and faith-based groups will receive grants to increase access to healthy foods in vulnerable and underserved communities in the Twin Counties.

Kzoo Awarded $100k Grant for Bronson Park Renovations

The city of Kalamazoo is getting a $100,000 grant from the Consumer Energy Foundation for renovations to Bronson Park. The Kalamazoo Department of Parks and Recreations made the announcement Tuesday in a news release. The donation brings the Bronson Park 21st Century campaign past the halfway mark of its $21 million goal and will go towards the installment of an information kiosk for visitors, the release said.

The students currently participate in the Carnival Scholarship & Mentoring Program, an innovative workplace program sponsored by Carnival and the Miami HEAT, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami that pairs a student with an employee mentor from Carnival. Prior to entering high school and participating in the Carnival Scholarship & Mentoring Program, the students attended the HEAT Academy, an after-school enrichment program for at-risk youth.
