On the First Day of Spring, March 20, 2019, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation announced its 2019 Gro More Good Grassroots Grantees with KidsGardening. The Gro More Good Grassroots Grants initiative focuses its support on garden and greenspace projects that connect more children with the life-enhancing and transformative benefits of gardening. This is part of ScottsMiracle-Gro’s Gro More Good commitment to bring the life-enhancing benefits of gardens and greenspaces to 10 million children by 2023.
To mark the first day of spring and celebrate the start of the gardening season, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation today announced the recipients of the 2019 Gro More Good Grassroots Grants with KidsGardening. 175 school and nonprofit organizations across the United States were awarded funding to create or enhance their youth garden programs. More than 62,500 children will benefit from increased experiences with gardening and outdoor play.
With one out of every six children in the United States living with hunger each day, young people are leading the fight to end child hunger to make sure their peers have access to healthy meals. To celebrate the role of young people in addressing this critical issue, Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation and Generation No Kid Hungry proclaim February 21 National Youth Day.
