The JetBlue Foundation Celebrates National STEM Day by Awarding Grants to Power STEM Initiatives in Puerto Rico

JetBlue today announced the JetBlue Foundation has awarded $135,000 in grants to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs in Puerto Rico to aid in long-term post-hurricane recovery. Grants of varying amounts were provided to organizations that are investing in the island’s future and placing aviation and STEM top-of-mind as career choices for students.

Hormel Foods Corporation today announced the recipients of this year’s $10,000 Hormel Heroes Scholarships. The Hormel Heroes Scholarship Program was created by Hormel Foods to support students with military backgrounds pursuing degrees in culinary arts or a foodservice management related program and is administered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF).

Princess Awesome teamed up with JetBlue for the special aviation-themed “Airplanes Collection,” featuring blue jets as the focal point of the line. This capsule collection highlights both JetBlue’s and Princess Awesome’s commitment to providing access for girls to pursue interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

In the Mountains of China and Ethiopia Lies a Joint Future

On 12 October 2018, a delegation of scholars and academic leaders from Ethiopia’s Mekelle University arrived at the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yunnan Province, China.

Their visit was part of a broader effort on behalf of the Institute and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) to expand their Mountain Futures Initiative to other montane communities and research centres.

SCS and SmartCert to Host FSC Trainings for Prospective Auditors and Certificate Holders

SCS Global Services and SmartCert are hosting a Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) training event in early December in Montreal. The training is for potential auditors, as well as stakeholders, certificate holders, or prospective certificate holders looking to strengthen their knowledge about FSC Forest Management, FSC Chain of Custody, and the principles of auditing from ISO 19011.

High school seniors can now apply for the $40,000 Edison Scholars college scholarships. Edison International is awarding $1.2 million in scholarships to 30 high school seniors to help them follow their dreams in STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) and empower them to change the world. Deadline to apply is Dec. 14.
