Hormel Foods Corporation and its subsidiary Jennie-O Turkey Store donated turkeys and hams for a Thanksgiving meal and event for around 1,000 people affected by Hurricane Harvey and others in need on Nov. 22. The event took place at Celebration of Life Church in Baytown, Texas, and featured a musical performance by Mandisa, an American gospel and contemporary Christian recording artist and former American Idol contestant.

Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, a billionaire known for his activism on climate change and gun safety, said he had no grand scheme to become involved in hurricane recovery in the Caribbean.

But what started off as an effort to provide quick emergency assistance in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where his Bloomberg L.P., co-founder Tom Secunda has a home, has turned into a new kind of project for Bloomberg and his key aides, putting them at Ground Zero of efforts to rebuild the tiny U.S. territory.

And there's a chance it could grow into a Bloomberg specialty as coastal communities and islands like these cope with increasingly extreme weather.

In the aftermath of recent typhoons, Sands China Ltd. contributed toward various disaster relief efforts aimed at Team Members and the wider community with transportation, technical and professional support, SME support, and long-term assistance. When Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico a little over a month ago, GM engineers mobilized to help the U.S. island territory. Hundreds of GM employees donated more than 12 tons of goods including batteries, solar cellphone chargers and lights, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, bottled water, baby formula and canned foods.

The Arbor Day Foundation announced today a five-year partnership with Texas Roadhouse as part of its newly launched Hurricane Tree Recovery Campaign. Texas Roadhouse has committed funding towards the tree restoration efforts in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. The initial phase of their $250,000 commitment will focus on planting and distributing trees in affected communities along the gulf coast.
