Global outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland recently released three new Timberland X Thread men’s footwear styles for spring, made with Thread’s recycled Ground to Good™ fabric. Each product made with Thread™ fabric supports a vibrant network of dignified jobs in the developing world - jobs for Haitian entrepreneurs like Mirlande Joseph.

This year, the conversation around diversity has been amplified. While progress is being made in the area of diversity and inclusion (D&I) from Hollywood to the C-suite, company diversity report releases alone won’t move the needle in our communities. Conversation – and action – need to take place every day.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico to help the Timberland PRO team plan and execute a two-day service event in conjunction with its spring sales meeting. Moved by the devastation caused by last fall’s Hurricane Maria and eager to make a difference, the PRO team decided to change its usual regional meetings and meet as one national team in Puerto Rico. Community service is core to Timberland’s DNA, so it’s not unusual for us to build service into key company events such as sales meetings, vendor summits, and more. But in this case, the PRO team went above and beyond a typical service event, and dedicated two ten-hour days of the three-day meeting to serve.

Nine Astellas volunteers from the PCP/Specialty team helped to restore a home in Tyler, Texas. The team worked with PATH (People Attempting to Help) to support the organization’s Transitional Housing Program—designed to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to low-to-moderate income families in East Texas.
