Employees from the Arrow Electronics office in Neu-Isenburg, Germany recently volunteered their time at local food bank Speisekammer. For several weeks, Arrow employees helped food bank staff transport, unpack and dispense food to the low-income families who utilize Speisekammer’s services.

CITGO Petroleum Corporation, along with its Marketers and Retailers, raised more than $65,000 in 2017 through the installation of “Spirit Pumps” at participating CITGO stations across 29 states.

KeyBank will host its annual Super Refund Saturday event on February 3, 2018, partnering with organizations in nine communities to provide free tax season and post-tax season support. For 13 years on Super Refund Saturday, KeyBank employees have worked alongside volunteers from community organizations to provide free tax preparation services to those who need it most, helping low- to moderate-income individuals and families determine their eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

Citi Community Development announced today a $2.6 million investment to support free tax preparation services for eligible workers in major cities and regions across the country. Launched on National Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day, the investment will support municipal efforts to expand awareness, access and capacity of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites during the 2018 tax season. Citi Community Development’s investment aims to help local organizations complete over 230,000 tax returns, resulting in approximately $191 million in tax refunds during the 2018 tax season. Citi also announced that volunteers from the bank will serve as tax preparers in VITA sites across the New York City region.

The brightest night in the city once again raised a total of more than $100,000 for communities in Honduras, Nicaragua and Dominican Republic. The Glow Run, a 5k run and fundraising event, united more than 12,000 Gildan employees and their families at the end of 2017 to celebrate a night of physical activity and entertainment in support of their communities.

RecycleMania, the premier collegiate recycling competition managed by national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful, is back for its 18th year as college and university campuses across the country compete to see who will claim the championship title in the fight to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost the most on campus. Registration for the 2018 RecycleMania competition will close on Friday, Feb. 2. RecycleMania will begin on Sunday, Feb. 4, with the campus competition running for eight weeks, concluding on Saturday, March 31.

For Josh Kaplan, giving back to the community is part of who he is. Driven by the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam, or “repairing the world,” he believes each of us has the power to create change and participate meaningfully in the world around us.

Forty Astellas employees from Astellas US Technologies (AUST) took a day to volunteer at the Clearbrook Funfest in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. AUST employees represented Supply Chain, Product Security, Project and Product Management and Quality Assurance Americas.

At a United Way of Monroe County community meeting held at Northampton Community College’s Monroe Campus in Tannersville, corporate partners, community leaders, and students and staff from some of Monroe County’s local schools announced the results of their respective United Way campaigns to a packed room of volunteers and supporters.

For any business looking to reduce its environmental impact, establishing a sustainability game plan is critical, but complex. Companies that set out on this path will want to look at ways to use fewer and renewable resources in their products; make their facilities more efficient; adopt sustainable procurement practices; and launch internal initiatives like recycling programs.
