Community Involvement

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced the creation of 14 new play spaces for children through a Morgan Stanley Foundation grant to KaBOOM! and the hands-on efforts of hundreds of its employees throughout the U.S. this year. With our partners and volunteers we will be building two physical playgrounds in Boston and Atlanta and providing creative play grants in 12 cities to provide local nonprofits an Imagination Playground or Rigamjig, which allow for year-round actvitiy in areas with limited space or inclement weather.

On January 26, Team Members around the world were congratulated after learning they had been selected as Sands Cares Heroes of the Year, as well as finalists for The Sheldon G. and Dr. Miriam Adelson Citizenship Award presented by Sands Cares. Sands Cares is the corporate giving program of Las Vegas Sands, where we make our communities better places to live through philanthropic giving, volunteerism and other in-kind support to local organizations.

At 60, Rieta Yap performs her duties as a Security Service Administrator at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) with a spring in her step. She is one of the most active contributors on the OneMBS Social Network, MBS’s internal Facebook group, and she eagerly looks forward to Sands for Singapore posts about volunteer opportunities.

When Pretika R K left the Republic of Singapore Navy after nearly a decade of service to her country, she rededicated her life to another form of service – making a difference in the lives of others. Pretika has been an active member of the community since she was young and has volunteered at various organizations on her own time.

Millions of families struggle to make ends meet, but through Aramark Building Community, Aramark partners with local community centers to provide solutions. Rebuilding Together, the leading home and community revitalization national non-profit organization, today announced a $1.6 million donation from Albertsons Companies Foundation to support long-term recovery efforts for underserved residents affected by California wildfires and Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

During Sustainable September, we spoke with Alicia Procello, VP, Corporate Social Responsibility and President, Avery Dennison Foundation and Janet Sandoval, Senior Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility and the Avery Dennison Foundation. They spoke about their work and how serving as a force for good contributes to a more sustainable future.

On July 7, 2017 at the Avery Dennison corporate headquarters in Glendale, California, employees presented a donation to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles. The $10,156 donation was a surprise to the United Way and the culmination of a creative sustainability effort led by Avery Dennison’s 207 Green Team.

Smithfield Foods, Inc. has recently made several contributions to support the communities in which it operates and its employees live in order to further the education of future generations.

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to attend and participate in the 2018 Points of Light Corporate Service Council (CSC) Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Those of us who arrived on Sunday January 14th were invited to the Annual Martin Luther King Sunday Supper, which encourages corporate and civic leaders to break bread and barriers by having open conversations about topics currently affecting their community.
