Novartis Rises to Second Place in 2018 Access to Medicine Index

Novartis ranked second in the 2018 Access to Medicine Index (ATMi), up from 3rd place in 2016, in recognition of its long-standing efforts to improve worldwide access to healthcare. Novartis remained the industry leader in access-to-medicine management, and its newly launched Access Principles – which aim to systematically integrate access strategies in how the company researches, develops and delivers medicines globally – have been highlighted as an innovative practice. The Novartis CEO and members of the Executive Committee now also have access objectives as part of their individual objectives.

Consumers Energy Works with Michigan-Based Business to Help Students in 29 Counties Stay Warm This Winter

Helping to keep schoolchildren safe and warm this winter, Consumers Energy is working with a Michigan-based business to provide products to over 900 West and Northern Michigan schools that quickly dry cold and wet gloves and mittens.

This week, TheGreenGloveDryer® School Project is delivering 3,140 EcoDryers to classrooms in nearly 60 public, private and charter schools in the Traverse Bay area. Consumers Energy is funding the school outreach to help students just in time for another cold Michigan winter.

'All in for Florida' Program Works to Intervene in Emergency Rooms in Opioid Overdose Cases

This collaboration between the Aetna Foundation, FAADA and FHA is a peer-to-peer counseling program connecting individuals hospitalized for opioid overdoses with access to treatment services at that critical moment when intervention is possible.

Humana Foundation Invests $1.84 Million to Address Social Determinants of Health in Knoxville and Jacksonville

The Humana Foundation is investing $1.84 million to address social determinants of health in two communities – Knoxville, Tenn., and Jacksonville, Fla.

In Knoxville, the Humana Foundation will invest $1,020,000 in the Truck2Table pilot program and is partnering with InterFaith Health Clinic and Catapult 4D to address East Tennessee health barriers.

Building Partnerships to Combat the Opioid Crisis

Public-private partnerships that align around the single goal of reversing opioid misuse and heroin use are needed now more than ever to produce comprehensive approaches that change the trajectory of the future of health. It’s with this shared goal in mind that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Discovery Education have joined forces to launch Operation Prevention—a nationwide initiative to educate and empower students with facts to help them better understand the science behind opioids’ impact on the brain and body.

Sodexo Seniors, in Partnership With Connected Living, Introduces New “Smart Living” Program for Senior Living Residents Using Alexa in the US

Sodexo, a food services and facilities management company committed to improving Quality of Life, is now offering a new “Smart Living” program for senior living residents to easily engage within their community and in the community at large by simply using their voices. The “Smart Living” program integrates Sodexo menus with Connected Living content management systems to allow residents to simply ask Alexa for community information and much more.
