After years of relying on a manual paper-based system and radio communications to relay vital information to underground equipment operators, Ontario’s Musselwhite mine recently implemented a digital fleet management system for underground vehicle dispatch that helped improve productivity and enhanced safety.

Multipliers of Prosperity: Status Quo or Game Changer?

The financial technology, or fintech, revolution is gaining momentum in the MENA (Middle East/North Africa) region. Fintech investments in MENA totaled $18 million in 2016. In 2017, that figure was surpassed by a single $20 million round raised by the payment platform Paytabs, leading to heightened interest among investors: Wamda Research Lab, for example, puts total 2017 fintech investments in MENA at more than $50 million, a 270 percent year-over-year increase.

FCA Foundation Receives the SAE Foundation’s Eighth Annual Gordon Millar Award

The FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of North American automaker FCA US LLC, was recognized with the eighth annual SAE Foundation Gordon Millar Award at the SAE Foundation Annual Celebration in Detroit on May 24, 2018. The FCA Foundation provides philanthropic support to SAE’s A World In Motion (AWIM) STEM education program, which gives students from kindergarten through eighth grade the opportunity to develop critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills.

Latin Telemedicine Expands Impacting More Patients

Telemedicine in Latin America is expanding — proving just how important partnerships and technological advancements can be to health care management in remote areas. Medtronic, along with the Lumen Foundation and Internal Telemedicine Systems, formed the Latin American Telemedicine Infarct Network (LATIN) to address one of the region’s most pressing challenges — cardiovascular disease, specifically STEMI. Today, LATIN is offered in more clinics — serving more patients – than ever before. The model continues to grow in Colombia and Brazil with more than 120 participating clinics and 19 hospitals. In remote parts of Mexico, 35 primary care centers and three hospitals have adopted the model for the first time.
