Earlier this year, hundreds of people from around the world took on a challenge to fix our global food system by looking to nature for design solutions. Now, eight finalist teams have been invited to prototype their solutions in an accelerator program that will award $100,000 to the top contender in an effort to increase speed to market for biomimetic solutions to global problems.

In the past several decades, there has been a dramatic demographic shift in the workforce. Not only do women now make up almost half of the workforce, but there are more pregnant workers than ever before and they are working later into their pregnancies. According to the National Partnership for Women & Families, holding a job during pregnancy is more common than at any other time in history. In a recent survey, 61 percent of respondents reported being employed during pregnancy. More families depend on women's income than ever before. According to the Pew Research Center, women are the primary or sole breadwinners in nearly 40 percent of families with children.

Morgan Stanley Healthy Cities to Deliver Network of Children’s Health Programming to Houston Youth

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced a sixth location for its innovative Morgan Stanley Healthy Cities initiative. Healthy Cities Houston aims to deliver a linked network of wellness, nutrition and play resources to children in underserved communities, and launched today with the construction of a new playground at KIPP Unity Primary School. Together, more than 200 volunteers from Morgan Stanley, KIPP, The Houston Food Bank and the local community will work with KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit dedicated to bringing balanced and active play into the daily lives of all children, to complete the new play space in just one day.
