At LIVESTRONG, we focus on three important areas: serving individuals, building communities and changing systems. Throughout the month of August we will be sharing real stories from people who have been helped in these areas by LIVESTRONG.
Biomimicry is a design-by-analogy method. It involves repurposing biological strategies to solve human technical and social challenges. As a result of natural selection, biological strategies are highly adapted and differentiated, and tend to be remarkably resource efficient. This makes biology a rich source of inspiration for novel, environmentally sustainable product innovations.
With distractions like Snapchat®, Xbox®, and Netflix® at kids’ fingertips, it can be difficult to get them off the couch and out participating in healthy activities. It can be even more challenging to get kids engaged in learning about their health and why it’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. But making health fun can make a big difference in engaging young people and encouraging them to embrace the power of prevention.

Pfizer is proud to announce its partnership with National Urban League, Anthem and City of Hope to launch Take Action for Health, an awareness program aiming to address the greatest health issues facing African-Americans: heart disease, breast cancer and emotional well-being. This program seeks to increase mammograms, blood pressure screenings, and depression and anxiety-risk screenings in an effort to one day eliminate these health disparities in the African-American community.
