Partners In Preservation: Main Streets Awards $2 Million in Preservation Grants to Sites Reflecting America’s Diverse History

Today, American Express, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Main Street America announced the winners of the 2018 Partners in Preservation: Main Streets campaign. The 11 winning historic sites will receive a total of $1.6 million in grants to fund their respective preservation projects. At the outset of the campaign, an additional $400,000 was allocated to the 20 Main Street communities that participated in the program to increase public awareness of the importance of these historic places and build grassroots support for the participating Main Street districts.

From consumers and homeowners to small businesses, Wells Fargo will support the fast-growing Hispanic community at every level as a key engine of the emerging U.S. economy, CEO Tim Sloan said Sunday, Sept. 9, at a national Hispanic leadership conference in San Diego. Speaking at the first annual L’Attitude conference, which highlights the expanding impact of Hispanics in the U.S., Sloan noted Wells Fargo’s continued focus on this growing market in recent years. The company, he said, has made a 10-year, $125 billion commitment to Hispanic homeownership financing and set aside $100 million for investment in minority- and women-owned small businesses.

21 Savage and Get Schooled Launch the “21 Savage Bank Account” Campaign to Teach Teens Money Managing Basics

Today, 21 Savage and Get Schooled launched, “21 Savage’s Bank Account,” a campaign to teach teens money basics. The campaign, announced on Ellen today, includes a digital badge, 21 Savages’ money tips for young moguls, as well as the opportunity for young people to receive $1,000 from 21 Savage’s Leading by Example Foundation to start their own bank account and gain knowledge in financial literacy. Savage is giving the first 21 accounts to deserving teens and people are encouraged to donate and sponsor for just $1,000 a kid at www.getschooled.com.

Citi Community Development Announces $2.6 Million Investment in Collaboration with 12 Municipalities and Regions, to Support Free Tax Preparation Services

Citi Community Development announced today a $2.6 million investment to support free tax preparation services for eligible workers in major cities and regions across the country. Launched on National Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day, the investment will support municipal efforts to expand awareness, access and capacity of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites during the 2018 tax season. Citi Community Development’s investment aims to help local organizations complete over 230,000 tax returns, resulting in approximately $191 million in tax refunds during the 2018 tax season. Citi also announced that volunteers from the bank will serve as tax preparers in VITA sites across the New York City region.
