More than 30 Sands China Care Ambassadors volunteered at Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop to distribute 350 food hampers to disadvantaged families days before Chinese New Year. Sands China Care Ambassadors has more than 1,600 volunteers from across all Sands China Ltd. properties, contributing close to 12,000 hours of voluntary community service in more than 50 activities in 2017.
Arrow Electronics and the nonprofit Close the Gap celebrated an important milestone: Since 2003, the organizations have refurbished and donated 600,000 electronic assets that customers have designated for humanitarian donation, including computers, storage, servers and mobile devices. By finding new life for these renewed assets, Arrow and Close the Gap diverted nearly 600 tons of used electronics from landfills in 2017.
Marina Bay Sands Team Members volunteered to join 12 beneficiaries from Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) Centre for Adults to purchase much needed groceries for 60 financially vulnerable families for the holiday season. In July 2017, Las Vegas Sands and Clean the World responded to one of the challenges within Las Vegas’ homeless community with the Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers Powered by Clean the World, a mobile hygiene unit that visits various locations serving the homeless population to provide showers, hygiene supplies, and other resources.
Local families received some extra joy in December thanks to a holiday initiative at Sands Bethlehem. Through a continued partnership with Donegan Elementary, students who were identified as part of a ‘family in need’ were ‘adopted’ by a Sands Bethlehem department.
