Xylem Supported Safe Water Project Earns Top Ranking in Manchester City’s Annual Cityzens Giving Campaign with More Than 450,000 Votes

Xylem announced that the Safe Water project it is supporting in Bangalore garnered more than 450,000 votes from players, partners and football fans around the world – earning top ranking in Cityzens Giving’s fifth annual campaign. Cityzens Giving is the global community initiative of Premier League champion football team and Xylem partner, Manchester City. This year’s campaign distributed £400,000 donated by City Football Group, parent of Manchester City, and its partners to six urban football projects run by young people, for young people. Fans around the world voted for how the funding should be divided between the six projects. Bangalore’s Safe Water Project, Water Goals, which focuses on improving access to safe, clean water for over 5,000 children in the area, was the most popular.

Mr. Cipolo worked at an airport in Lusaka, Zambia for most of his adult career. In 1994, at the age of 50, he was suddenly laid off. He applied to other jobs in the city but no one wanted to hire him because of his age. Yet he still needed a full-time income to support his family. Rob Ivanovic is a senior engineering project manager with 20 years of experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water distribution involving SCADA and DCS planning, design, programming, implementation, and testing. He has managed numerous engineering, construction, configuration, and start-up projects. His expertise includes identifying stakeholders, defining scope management plans with cost and labor baseline estimates, scheduling and coordinating project activities, planning risk management, tracking work progress, forecasting labor requirements, and producing compliance reports.

John Butler has more than 40 years of experience in water and natural resource management. He is a senior technical advisor in Tetra Tech’s international development practice, focusing on water supply, sanitation, and water infrastructure improvements in Africa.

Tetra Tech Joins USAID to Celebrate Sustainable Water Treatment Plant in Liberia

On November 28, 2018, community officials, the Liberian government, and officials from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) celebrated the dedication of the Sanniquellie City water treatment plant. As part of the USAID Liberia Municipal Water Project (LMWP), Tetra Tech designed a solar-powered water treatment plant and public distribution system, placing kiosks within 500 meters of homes to reduce the time families spend collecting water to under 30 minutes. This is one of the largest solar-powered treatment plants in Liberia and West Africa.
