Give the Gift of Light This Giving Tuesday
The lights donated by Symantec employees have helped numerous children and their families living in remote off-grid communities in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Only 10 percent of PNG residents are connected to the electricity grid, leaving 7 million people reliant on dangerous kerosene, campfires, and expensive battery operated torches. The donated lights have helped kids complete their homework after dark and enabled their parents to continue working on their small businesses. They’ve also contributed to keeping girls and women safe as they visit the communal latrine and navigate their way around the village after dark.
Bloomberg - Uncovering Value in the Evolving Sustainability Space: in Conversation With CSRHub
When CSRHub was founded ten years ago, sustainability wasn’t considered a key part of corporate or investment strategy. However, the company’s core team believed that corporate social responsibility (CSR) was a strong indicator of value and a tool for stakeholders to reliably measure it would soon become a necessity.
Shire’s Fourth Annual Global Days of Service Delivers Impact Around the Globe
Shire’s 4th annual Global Days of Service, held around the globe throughout September and October to give back to local communities, surpassed previous employee volunteer participation rates. Between None and Many, There’s a Bridge
When we are surrounded by difference, we are better. We know diversity amongst board members, leaders, and teams has impact at scale. California recently became the first state to require public companies to have women on their board. At Cisco, we were co-founded by a woman and have had women on our board for more than 22 years. Currently, we have three women serving on our board. Today, these extraordinary women – Carol Bartz, Michele Burns and Kristina Johnson – were named to WomenInc.’s 2018 list of the Most Influential Corporate Directors. On behalf of all of us at Cisco, congratulations and thank you for your leadership!

Talking Mine Closure With Chris Cormier, Former Vice President, Reclamation and Closure
Mine closure and reclamation are key components in the life cycle of a mine. To us, how we leave our mine sites and how we start them are equally important. Until recently, Chris Cormier was our VP of Reclamation and Closure, but this year he made the jump from mine closure, to opening a new mine at our Coffee Mine Project in the Yukon as the Mine General Manager. Before his transition to Coffee, we asked him how 2017 helped shape Reclamation and Closure at Goldcorp.
Goldcorp’s Cognitive Journey at Red Lake Wins Technology Award
Since 2017, Goldcorp has been working with IBM to determine how the IBM Watson cognitive computing platform could improve the company’s mineral exploration program. RLGM is now pioneering the world’s first Exploration with Watson platform. The Watson initiative recently earned Goldcorp a prestigious Ingenious Award in the large private sector category from the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC).
Land Remediation Restores Soil Conditions at El Sauzal
Land management practices in the mining process can take an environmental toll on the soil around a mine site. Tillage, stripping and removal of native vegetation can alter the living and nutrient conditions of soil organisms, and result in a degradation of their microenvironments, particularly with a reduction of soil biotics, both in biomass and diversity.

Yet proven successful remediation techniques utilized by experienced erosion control specialists can restore the land back to the original state before mining operations commenced. Such was the case at Goldcorp’s El Sauzal mine, located in the municipality of Urique Chihuahua, Mexico.
Red Lake Schools Discover the Earth at Close Range
At Goldcorp, we recognize that our stewardship of the environment is integral to our company’s long-term viability, and we are working on innovative ways for environmental management, always considering the present and future of water, energy and biodiversity.

In October 2018, Red Lake Gold Mines partnered with Earth Rangers, a conservation organization dedicated to educating children and their families about biodiversity, to bring the organization directly to local schools.
