GoDaddy Small Business Research Lab
Formerly Venture Forward
Since 2018, GoDaddy’s Small Business Research Lab (formerly Venture Forward) has captured the outlook, needs, and demographics of small and microbusiness owners — those with nine or fewer employees, often solo-run.
This global initiative spans the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada, quantifying the economic impact of over 20 million microbusinesses with localized insights down to the zip code or postcode level.
Through the Microbusiness Data Hub, the Lab publishes open-access national survey data and quarterly updates to its key datasets, including:
- Microbusiness Density
- Microbusiness Activity Index (USA only)
- Industry & Commerce Dataset
These insights empower policymakers, researchers, and small business advocates to better understand and support the real people driving local economies.
