Food Donation Can Significantly Reduce Hunger in Local Communities
The holiday season can be a great time to reflect upon the many blessings for which we are thankful: nutritious food, the gift of friends and family and good health. But it can be a difficult time for those in need, especially for the 48 million people dealing with hunger. Using food responsibly and donating excess food can help make the holiday season more plentiful and hunger-free for all.

The issue of food waste
Every year, 60 million tons of food are wasted in the United States. Retailers and consumers are responsible for wasting nearly a third of the country’s food supply, with the average American family throwing away an estimated $1,500 worth of food every year.
Wells Fargo Gift Honors African American History and Culture
Wells Fargo announced the donation of $1 million and historical artifacts from its corporate collection to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). The artifacts, a collection of two mining stock certificates and one piece of letterhead featuring the work of African American artist Grafton Tyler Brown, will be displayed in the NMAAHC’s inaugural exhibition scheduled to open in September 2016.
National Geographic Celebrates 100th Anniversary of National Park Service with Yearlong 'Power of Parks' Initiative
In honor of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Park Service, National Geographic has launched The Power of Parks, a yearlong initiative utilizing all of the organization's platforms to better explore and understand the world's national parks. The campaign includes dedicated programming on the National Geographic Channels, a major series in National Geographic magazine, and an Explore the Power of Parks web portal featuring the latest magazine stories and photos, travel guides, maps, and educational resources. 21st Century Fox expanded its partnership with the National Geographic Society in 2015 to create National Geographic Partners, bringing together all of National Geographic's media assets, including magazines, book and map publishing, and more.
CSX and the Conservation Fund Announce 2015 Grant Recipients
CSX and The Conservation Fund today announced the grant recipients for the 2015 Grant Program for Transporting Healthy Food. Twelve charitable organizations in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia will receive grants ranging from $4,000 to $10,000 to support and strengthen local transportation and distribution of fresh produce and healthy food to communities in need.
