A series of two posters were created feature Eagles Cornerback Jalen Mills, Eagles mascot SWOOP, and two local children, taking the steps to properly wash and dry their hands with a paper towel, with the messages, ‘Clean Hands Make Healthy Fans!’ and ‘Wash. Dry. Fly, Eagles, Fly!’ Jalen Mills’ jersey number is 31, and students are encouraged to wash their hands for 31 seconds. The posters are free and will be made available to schools in the Delaware Valley region.

The official subject matter of Sea Change Radio is environmental sustainability. This week, however, we are deviating from that to talk about a topic that we believe is inextricably linked to sustainability: stratification in education. We are talking with law professor, civil rights advocate, and educational diversity expert, Prof. John C. Brittain, about educational practices that perpetuate social, racial, and socioeconomic exclusiveness.
This past summer, I participated in the Amgen Scholars Europe program, which offered students an opportunity to work with a European research lab of their choice and to then share their findings with fellow attendees at a symposium held in University of Cambridge. It was a delightful experience that brought together more than 100 students across 5 universities: ETH Zürich, Karolinska Institute, Institut Pasteur, LMU Munich, and the University of Cambridge.
The Japan Amgen Scholars Program gives an opportunity to students from every part of the world to come together and participate in research in different branches of science. This year, I was privileged to be part of the Amgen Scholars 2017 cohort, which consisted of 44 international students and 4 students from Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo.
