ORLANDO, Fla., February 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Orlando Radio Advertisers, Universal Nissan, Universal Hyundai, 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore, RC Hill Mitsubishi and Keiser University have teamed up with nonprofit social enterprise First Book to bring 5,000 brand-new and age-appropriate books to students at Orlando Day Nursery. Funding for this program was generated through participation in CBS EcoMedia’s EducationAd program.

Orlando Day Nursery’s education philosophy, based on the belief that every child has an inherent curiosity and a natural desire to learn, fuels their commitment to provide high-quality educational programs that prepare youth for a successful future. One of the oldest child day care providers in the Southeast, Orlando Day Nursery was founded in 1921 by a group of women seeking to provide child care for working mothers widowed by World War I. Since its founding, the center, which operated as an all-volunteer organization, has captured the attention of foundations and organizations like Disney, Snapple and the Heart of Florida United Way, even receiving the Keeping the Promise Award from Colin Powell’s America’s Promise Alliance. Ninety years later, Orlando Day Nursery continues to provide early childhood care and education for working, low-income families in central Florida, offering a rich array of high-quality programs for preschool through school-age children.

To celebrate the project, CBS Radio Advertisers were invited to a special First Book Reading Party event hosted at the Orlando Day Nursery. CBS Advertisers had the opportunity to interact with and read books aloud to the students. Attendees included representatives from Universal Nissan, Universal Hyundai, 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore, RC Hill Mitsubishi, Keiser University, First Book and CBS EcoMedia. Local Orlando CBS radio stations WJHM, WOMX, and WOCL also participated.

“Access to brand-new books helps children build a lifelong love of reading, helping them succeed in school and in life,” said Kyle Zimmer, president and CEO of First Book. “By putting new these critical educational resources in to the hands of local kids in need, Orlando Radio Advertisers, Universal Nissan, Universal Hyundai, 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore, RC Hill Mitsubishi and Keiser University and CBS EcoMedia are improving lives today and investing in the future of their community.”

“There is no underestimating the power of books and the lasting impact books can create on impressionable young minds,” said Paul Polizzotto, president and founder of CBS EcoMedia. “Research has shown time and time again that by simply making books an integral part of children’s lives, parents and educators can significantly boost children’s learning potential. The generous support from the Orlando Radio Advertisers is a testament of their commitment to education and strengthening communities. We are grateful for their support of First Book and Orlando Day Nursery.”
