One of my favorite annual events is Points of Light’s Service Unites. Not only is the conference an opportunity to connect with peers to celebrate best practices and commiserate lesson learned, but it is also a chance to share updates on emerging philanthropy trends and hear from global service leaders. This year’s event delivered on its promise of incredible speakers and insights on the state of volunteerism, and I am happy to share my reflections on three networking and learning-filled days in Atlanta.
When Common Impact’s clients ask me what events they should attend to understand the next generation of CSR, employee engagement and for-purpose business, I always point them to the Shared Value Initiative (SVI). SVI held its annual summit this past week in the (finally sunny!) downtown NYC, where hundreds of business, investment and social sector professionals met to hear and discuss the latest in driving a social, environmental and financial bottom line at once.
Common Impact had a fantastic time at the 2017 NEHRA Conference! What a fun way to spend a few days: reflecting on employee engagement and talent development with a crowd of talented HR professionals. We learned a ton while we were there, so we've provided a few key highlights and reflections from the conference:
This past week, I had the privilege of joining some of the nation’s most service-minded companies, along with their intermediary and nonprofit partners, at the Points of Light Conference on Volunteering and Service. The three-day convention offered a wealth of insights, many of the most poignant and inspiring centering on the vibrancy and artistry of our host city, Detroit.
This year’s FSG’s Shared Value Summit took place in New York earlier this week and I was lucky enough to join a group of companies, NGOs, and intermediaries who are helping to bring shared value programs from concept to reality at their organizations. And, the swankiness of the cocktail lounge at the Conrad Hotel never fails to delight.
A belated happy International Women’s Day to all! As I reflect on an inspiring two days at the 2016 International Women’s Day forum last week, The Business of Inclusion: Global Prosperity through Women and Girls Empowerment, I wanted to share a few of the themes that came to the fore over the course of the conference.
