Many environmental thought leaders have said the Chevrolet carbon-reduction initiative leaves a legacy. We asked Sue Hall, CEO of Climate Neutral Business Network, to provide insight as to what the future holds.

Chevrolet’s campuses were by definition all leaders since they had to deliver GHG reductions stronger than 85 percent of their U.S. peers. Chevrolet’s carbon-reduction initiative established a groundbreaking goal in 2010 to invest up to $40 million to reduce 8 million metric tons CO2 through carbon projects across America. Chevrolet over the last five years has prevented 8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the earth’s atmosphere, roughly equivalent to the CO2 emissions from the annual energy used in every home in Detroit.
