April 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Due to an alarming amount of budget cuts to inner city public schools’ music programs, Southern California Acura Dealers have partnered with EcoMedia to provide funding to national nonprofit Little Kids Rock to expand its free and innovative music education programming to more than 8,400 students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Representatives from Southern California Acura Dealers and EcoMedia joined Little Kids Rock today at Pio Pico Middle School to deliver instruments to the school’s “Modern Band” music program that is currently benefitting from Little Kids Rock’s free programming, where the students will also host a celebratory concert.

Little Kids Rock, a leading nonprofit provider of free music lessons, musical instruments and teacher training to U.S. public schools, will utilize the funding from Southern California Acura Dealers and EcoMedia to provide training to 20 new teachers and professional development to 40 existing Little Kids Rock teachers. This is in an effort to launch and expand its innovative programming for more students this school year. The donation will also fund the donation of curricula and as many as 610 additional instruments, including guitars, drums, bass guitars and keyboard for use by student music-makers throughout the LAUSD.

“The Southern California Acura Dealers are committed to supporting our communities and programs that enhance the lives of local residents,” said Matt Browning, president of the Southern California Acura Dealers Association. “We appreciate the vital role Little Kids Rock plays in the development of children and expanding their creativity.”

Members from Southern California Acura Dealers and EcoMedia joined Little Kids Rock at Pio Pico Middle School to deliver some of the brand new instruments as well as a Krell S-300i Integrated Amplifier system valued at $2,500, donated by Krell Industries.

“Little Kids Rock is so grateful that the Southern California Acura Dealers and Krell Industries have chosen to support our kids’ right to have music education in their schools and foster the skills they need to lead creative, rich, purposeful lives,” says Little Kids Rock founder, David Wish. “With this donation, many more children will have the opportunity to unlock their inner-music makers.”

“Learning to play musical instruments instills confidence and inspires creativity in students,” said Paul Polizzotto, Founder and President of CBS EcoMedia. “Thanks to the Southern California Acura Dealers’ generous funding, more students in Los Angeles will have access to transformative musical instruments and programs.”
