2018 marks 12 years of sustainability efforts at Las Vegas Sands. During the construction of The Palazzo in 2016, while green building was still a new concept to the market, Las Vegas Sands hired a consultant to incorporate sustainability features to the development of the new resort and achieved LEED Silver® for New Construction. LEED Certifications, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and encourage market transformation towards sustainable design.

2018 Giving in Numbers Survey Launches

CECP, in association with The Conference Board, is celebrating the launch of the 17th annual Giving in Numbers Survey. In the largest, most robust, industry-leading and internationally recognized research of corporate social engagement of its kind, the survey is open through March 30, 2018, to companies with revenues of US $2 billion or more, including companies not yet affiliated with CECP or The Conference Board. CECP: The CEO Force for Good is a coalition of more than 200 of the world’s largest companies that represent $6.4 trillion in revenues, $18.4 billion in social investment, and 13.6 million employees.

Advertisers Fumble in Super Bowl LII

Brandon Graham’s strip-sack late in Super Bowl LII wasn’t the only fumble during the game, as advertisers failed to take advantage of a massive audience to bring awareness to key issues and reinforce what they stand for. Instead, they played it safe, largely avoiding politics and controversy in favor of humor – or attempted humor.

Gildan has been included in the 2018 RobecoSAM Sustainability Yearbook for the sixth consecutive year. This year, the company received the Bronze Class distinction. RobecSAM’s Sustainability Yearbook is one of the world’s most comprehensive publications on corporate sustainability. The index has been built using a selection of criteria that best captures a company’s quality of management and its potential to create long-term value.

FX’s “American Crime Story” Donates $15,000 Worth of Set Materials to Habitat for Humanity

Twentieth Century Fox Television and the production crew of FX Networks’ American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace have made donations of nearly $15,000 worth of furniture, artwork, lights and more materials used on set to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. The organization helps provide home improvement materials to families in need, and TCFTV provided an entire warehouse worth of items at entirely no cost. 21st Century Fox’s film and television productions regularly find new homes for leftover set materials in order to both reduce waste and support the communities where these projects work and film.

Caring About the Game

“It seems to be easier to win the game when you care about the game.” The morning after the Super Bowl seems an appropriate time to write about the game, but it’s not actually the game of football that I’m interested in. It’s the game of business and what it takes to win in 2018.
