Responsible Production & the Circular Economy

Starting in June, GRI and Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) are launching a new program, ‘Sustainable Trade and Investment through Reporting’ in the Indo-Pacific (STIR Indo-Pacific). The program will target five developing countries in Asia: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. ​

The Living Product Challenge (LPC), introduced in 2015, is growing and scaling thanks to the commitment of courageous companies who are redesigning products and processes to work within natural and social systems, it was announced at Neocon World Trade Fair today. Neocon exhibitors Mohawk and Humanscale both debuted products created under the Living Product Challenge. Additionally, the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) announced partnerships with leading product certification companies, growing the ecosystem for companies who are exploring the outer edges of regenerative manufacturing and design.

For the first LEED Platinum certified hotel in the United States, sustainability is a guiding tenet in every way that hospitality is extended to green-minded guests. That’s why it was important for the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, N.C., to make responsible decisions with the waste that was created from a recent renovation. In addition to specifying beautiful custom multi-level cut and loop carpeting from Durkan, the staff made sure that what was replaced was diverted from the landfill by recycling the carpet through our ReCover program.

Earlier this month, Mohawk Group participated in the Living Future UnConference in Seattle, an annual convention organized by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). The week was a truly meaningful and memorable sustainability immersion experience with a diverse group of sustainability leaders from across the industry.

The Carlsberg Group has committed to eliminating carbon emissions and halving water usage at its breweries by 2030 as part of its new sustainability programme – Together Towards ZERO.
