Elephant Poaching Costs African Economies US $25 Million per Year in Lost Tourism Revenue – Study

The current elephant poaching crisis costs African countries around USD $25 million annually in lost tourism revenue, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Communications. Comparing this lost revenue with the cost of halting declines in elephant populations due to poaching, the study determines that investment in elephant conservation is economically favorable across the majority of African elephants’ range.

Rare.us Launches Second Annual “Rare Goes Yellow” Campaign to Benefit American Veterans

Rare.us announces the launch of its second annual “Rare Goes Yellow” campaign to honor veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Throughout November, Rare is partnering with The Journey Home Project – a nonprofit organization, co-founded by country singer Charlie Daniels – which connects donors to veterans’ groups that assist soldiers transitioning from deployment to civilian life.

CBRE and Rebuilding Together Return to Renovate Sylvia Family Shelter in Chicago, IL

CBRE Group, Inc., through its corporate philanthropy program, CBRE Cares, will partner with national housing nonprofit Rebuilding Together to continue repairs at the Sylvia Family Shelter in Chicago, Illinois, during its annual CBRE Women’s Networking Forum. This will be the group’s second large-scale volunteer project in as many years at this facility.

21CF and National Geographic Take Bronx High-school Film Students from The Cinema School on a Field Trip to 'MARS'

In the weeks leading up to the global premiere of National Geographic's six-part series "MARS" on Monday, Nov. 14, 21st Century Fox and National Geographic took 200 high-school students attending The Cinema School (TCS) in Bronx, N.Y., on a field trip to an immersive Mars experience featuring a virtual reality simulator and an anti-gravity treadmill this week. The students of The Cinema School, the nation's first film high school founded in 2009 by 21CF-supported Ghetto Film School (GFS) in partnership with the New York City Department of Education, also got a chance to hear about what it will take for humans to live on Mars.

Pro Bono Service: Not Just for Lawyers Anymore!

Did you know that pro bono service is the fastest growing domestic volunteer program among leading global companies in the last three years? According to CECP’s report on trends in corporate societal engagement, Giving in Numbers: 2016 Edition, the percentage of companies offering pro bono services in the US increased from 43% in 2013 to 54% in 2015. What’s more, CECP’s report on international corporate giving – Giving Around the Globe – also found an uptick in this skills-based volunteering practice with global companies reporting a rise in pro bono opportunities from 17% to 24%.
