Dining Out For Life® hosted by Subaru® is a restaurant-based event with a truly fulfilling call to action: Dine at one of the 3,000 participating restaurants in more than 60 cities across North America on Thursday, April 26, 2018 and that restaurant will donate a generous portion of the day’s proceeds to fund HIV/AIDS care, prevention, education, testing, counseling and other essential services in their city.
The Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation’s commitment to address health disparities in cancer outcomes and care was represented at the Biden Cancer Initiative event at AACR. In 2016, the Foundation joined the Cancer Moonshot initiative and donated $25M to grantee projects to expand community-based cancer care resources and patient engagement and support programs for racial and ethnic minorities, rural, low income and vulnerable populations in the U.S. Grantee projects are being implemented in over 25 states across the country.
Being away from families and friends during the holidays can be difficult. For a person battling cancer and their loved ones – this can be especially challenging. To help brighten the day of these patients and their families, Astellas employees wrote inspirational messages on note cards and decorated them. These note cards were put into 2,000 care packages assembled by Astellas volunteers to give to patients and caregivers staying at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodges and Ronald McDonald Houses. The volunteer event was part of Astellas’ inaugural Patient and Caregiver Week – a series of events to educate employees on the patient’s journey and how Astellas can do more to help them.
