December 17, 2014 /3BL Media/ - In the spirit of spreading holiday cheer, ServiceMaster Restore, one of the largest disaster recovery companies in the U.S. and part of the ServiceMaster (NYSE: SERV) family of brands, and CBS EcoMedia today unveiled much-needed renovations to the Nia Treatment Home, a group home operated by Volunteers of America-Greater New York, serving at-risk youth.

From repairing the roof, replacing cracks in the foundation, and installing new windows, to expertly-cleaning rugs and furnishings, and even bringing in a trimmed holiday tree, ServiceMaster television personality and spokesperson, Matt Paxton, joins ServiceMaster Restore franchise owners from all over the Northeast to make the holiday season warm and bright for residents of the Nia Treatment Home.

The Nia Treatment Home serves three male youths, ages 13 to 17, who are transitioning from foster care to adulthood. Designed to have a welcoming and non-institutional atmosphere, the Nia Treatment Home provides therapeutic services and helps the teens develop the necessary life skills to prepare for independent adulthood. One adult lives full-time at the home to supervise, mentor and ensure residents’ safety.

The upgrades will help Volunteers of America-Greater New York continue to provide a safe, nurturing and comfortable environment for the youth living in the home, which will also benefit from reduced energy, long-term maintenance and repair costs.

“For more than 50 years, we’ve been helping homeowners clean and restore their homes, either as part of ongoing maintenance or stemming from large and small disasters,” said Brian Gardella, President, ServiceMaster of the Shore Area. “This year, several franchisees from the Northeast banded together to ensure the youth of the Nia Treatment Home have a warm and festive holiday season.”

Since March 2012, Volunteers of America has partnered with CBS EcoMedia to identify and provide support for underfunded improvement projects in low-income and subsidized housing developments nationwide.

“Public-private partnerships, such as the one we enjoy with EcoMedia, allow us to measurably improve the quality of life for our residents,” said Tere Pettitt, president and CEO of Volunteers of America-Greater New York. “With ServiceMaster Restore’s generosity and expertise, we are greatly enhancing the living environment in one of our two youth treatment homes. The three teens who live there are receiving the support and learning the skills they need to grow up to be productive, independent young men. They call this house their home, and we thank ServiceMaster Restore for ensuring it’s a warm and comforting place for them, during the holidays and throughout the year.”

“We’re honored and deeply appreciative of the partnership with ServiceMaster Restore to provide the best environment possible for youth at the Nia Treatment Home as they make the transition into adulthood,” said Paul Polizzotto, president and founder, CBS EcoMedia.
