North Texas Ford Dealers’ funding offers students at KIPP Truth Academy access to essential technology necessary for a successful future.

November 19, 2014 /3BL Media/ - North Texas Ford Dealers have partnered with CBS EcoMedia to provide KIPP Truth Academy students critical educational tools needed to support literacy and math programs and enhance college readiness. This funding will help level the playing field by offering students access to the same caliber learning environment as their Dallas college preparatory peers.

KIPP DFW, a high-performing charter school network serving low-income areas in southern Dallas, was established in 2003 with the founding of its flagship middle school, KIPP Truth Academy. The school currently serves nearly 450 students in grades 5-8, 96 percent of whom qualify for free and reduced priced meals, a traditional indicator of poverty.

North Texas Ford Dealer’s financial support will enable the school to purchase best-in-class hardware and software infrastructure, such as Google Chromebooks, and help the school integrate technology more seamlessly into the instructional day. Support will reduce student-to-teacher ratio and allow teachers to create small group settings where learning can be personalized based on the students’ particular achievement level. This model of blended learning offers students a better chance at developing the literacy and math skills necessary to succeed in top-tier high schools and colleges.

The funding from North Texas Ford Dealers will impact the nearly 450 students at KIPP Truth Academy.

“Ford is committed to the youth of America, and we believe the partnership at KIPP DFW Truth Academy is an important way the North Texas Ford Dealers can support our local community,” said Chaz Gilmore, the group’s chairman.

To celebrate this innovative partnership, North Texas Ford Dealer representatives took a tour of KIPP Truth Academy, led by KIPP students, which culminated with a classroom observation of students interacting with the newly funded technology. Hosts included KIPP Truth Academy School Leader Michael Horne among other KIPP DFW representatives.

“Our mission at KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth is to provide children in southern Dallas with a free, rigorous, high quality education that offers the knowledge, skills and character traits necessary to thrive in school, college and the competitive world beyond,” said Horne. “Thanks to North Texas Ford Dealers and their generous contribution to fund technology through CBS EcoMedia, our students now have access to state-of-the-art learning tools, further preparing them for college and reaching their full potential.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with North Texas Ford and KIPP DFW to put state-of-the-art technology into the hands of bright young minds,” said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of CBS EcoMedia Inc. “The financial support provided through our EducationAd program ensures that students at KIPP Truth Academy have the tools necessary to develop the skills needed in today’s world.”
