Experimental Solar Road in Georgia Is Paving a New Way
The first solar roadway in the U.S. debuted on an 18-mile stretch of I-85 in southwestern Georgia. It's called the Ray C. Anderson Memorial Highway, and the asphalt is a living laboratory now known as The Ray -- it offers a vision of how highways could look and function in the future.

WheelRight Tire Safety Station on The Ray Now Includes Sidewall Reading
This week, The Ray and WheelRight have upgraded the unique WheelRight drive-through tire safety station to include tire sidewall reading. The WheelRight system previously allowed for tire pressure and tread depth readings, but this additional capability contains all the critical information necessary to describe the tire and identify a suitable replacement.

The Ray Joins World Class Sustainable Electrified Transportation Center
The Ray is excited to announce a new partnership with Sustainable Electrified Transportation (SELECT) Research Center, led by Utah State University. As a member of SELECT, The Ray will join the nation’s leading researchers and experts across sectors, including automotive OEMs, suppliers/manufacturers, civil engineering firms, departments of transportation and academia, in understanding and developing ways in which a fully electrified transportation ecosystem can be strategically and successfully piloted in the near future.

Fast Company announced the winners of its World Changing Ideas Awards, which honor businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that offer innovative solutions to the issues facing humanity. The Ray’s smart road dot was selected for recognition as a World Changing Ideas finalist.

Getting Down to Business: Industry Leaders Announce Start of Georgia International Business Park
Leaders from some of the biggest businesses in the country gathered in LaGrange City Hall on Thursday to discuss the creation of what will be the biggest industrial park in the southeast in terms of size, employees and investment in the community. “There are a hundred manufacturers in Troup County that operate in this park, and we have more Fortune 500 companies operating here than anywhere in the U.S.”

Recycled Rubber Paves the Way to the Future in Troup County, Georgia
This week, Troup County will complete the paving of the county’s first “rubber road” on the new Tom Hall Parkway. The project used over 32,000 pounds of recycled tire rubber (RTR) in the top layer or “wearing course” of the road, which represents the rubber taken from over 2,500 end of life passenger tires.

The Ray Receives Additional Funding
The Ray C. Anderson Foundation will grant an additional $2 million to The Ray over the next two years for research, pilot projects and innovative technologies that have the potential to shape transportation infrastructure. The foundation carries on the legacy of Ray C. Anderson, founder and former chair of Interface Inc., a flooring company committed to sustainability.
