LA Kings Team Up With Team Smile to Provide Free Dental Care for 300 Students in Crenshaw, Los Angeles

AEG’s LA Kings and Kings Care Foundation teamed up with Team Smile, a national advocacy group that provides life-changing dental care to underserved children, to host and provide free dental care to 300 students from the Crenshaw area in Los Angeles on Friday, October 12.

Pro Bono Week 2018: Leaders for the Future

When Taproot was founded in 2001, we knew our mission to drive social change through pro bono service didn’t have to start from scratch. The legal profession in particular served as an example of the potential that can be realized when you engrain an ethic of service into an industry and build programs and resources so nonprofits can leverage it. But outside of the legal profession, that type of access to pro bono services for the nonprofit sector was still rare.

Xylem Employees in Axminster Raise Awareness about Issues Associated with Water Scarcity

During Xylem Watermark’s October Month of Service, employees from Xylem’s office in Axminster, UK have created a simulation in which they cycle in the office to raise awareness of the 6.5km walked by women each day for approximately 20 liters of water in areas affected by water scarcity. Each morning, the employees take note of the distance cycled and calculate the equivalent amount of water carried. This information is then entered onto their water measure poster pictured below.

Places That Matter: Clyde, Ohio

Clyde, Ohio has been home to a Whirlpool Corporation plant for more than 65 years. Multiple generations of employees have lived and worked there in that time. Learn about them in "Places that Matter," a photojournalism project chronicling the lives of Whirlpool employees.

Guardians of the Coast: 5,700 Students Involved and 2,610 Km of Coastline Adopted Thanks to the Costa Crociere Foundation Project

Results presented from the first year of operation of Guardians of the Coast, one of the biggest citizen science projects in Italy, promoted by the Costa Crociere Foundation. The initiative actively involved 156 secondary schools , over 600 teachers and 5,700 students during the 2017-2018 academic year. Each school "adopted" a section of the Italian coast, covering a total of 2,610 km , equal to one third of the country's natural coastline.

The Global Engagement Forum: Live Convenes Leaders for Cross-Sector Collaboration

Last week, the 2018 Global Engagement Forum: Live convened leaders and experts from business, government, and nonprofit organizations to collaborate around solving specific problems within the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Hosted by PYXERA Global, the Forum convened over 300 leaders, experts, and stakeholders in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
