Smithfield Foods was pleased to host members of The Global Good Fund’s Veterans Leadership Program at the company’s corporate headquarters in Smithfield, Virginia for a three-day executive mentorship retreat. The veteran entrepreneurs spent time with executives, including Smithfield President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Sullivan, gaining valuable insights for their own businesses.

eBay Employees Loan $450k to Kiva Entrepreneurs

The eBay Foundation provides every eBay employee with an annual $25 Kiva loan credit to create economic opportunity for small and micro entrepreneurs around the world. Since 2017, over 23,000 Kiva entrepreneurs have benefitted from more than $600,000 in loans made by eBay employees.

Partners In Preservation: Main Streets Awards $2 Million in Preservation Grants to Sites Reflecting America’s Diverse History

Today, American Express, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Main Street America announced the winners of the 2018 Partners in Preservation: Main Streets campaign. The 11 winning historic sites will receive a total of $1.6 million in grants to fund their respective preservation projects. At the outset of the campaign, an additional $400,000 was allocated to the 20 Main Street communities that participated in the program to increase public awareness of the importance of these historic places and build grassroots support for the participating Main Street districts.

FCA Community: Creating Connections to Battle Mental Illness

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a person dies by suicide every seven hours in the state of Michigan and it is the 10th leading cause of death in the state.

“A lot of people think they can beat mental illness on their own, so they suffer in silence or take their own lives,” explains Jazmyne Kincaid, FCA US employee at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit. “I hope to be a helping hand to someone struggling with a mental illness and share with them the resources around us that can help guide them toward health.”

At eBay, we strive to create opportunity for all. Supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses in communities all over the world is central to our mission.

That’s why we’ve recently entered into a partnership to help raise funds and awareness for youth charity The Prince’s Trust. Through its Enterprise programme the charity works with 18-30 year old budding entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into a business reality by providing them with training, mentoring, funding and a variety of other resources.
